All in the Family
Bob and
Louise Walter send holiday greetings to everyone as does Lyla Moir
who wishes to thank everyone for calls and cards.
The new alarm system at First Church has been activated effective December 22. There are a few things everyone should know. The alarm will be automatically set at 9:30 every night, seven days a week. We are asking that everyone be out of the building by that time. If you know you will need to be in the building after 9:30, please let the office know seven days prior so arrangements can be made. Last minute requests to stay after 9:30 must still be made to the office and accommodations will be made, if possible. The alarm will be turned off Monday-Friday at 6:00 A.M. Please do not enter the building prior to that time. Saturdays the building is NOT open. The alarm will remain on all day unless events are scheduled in advance. If you enter the building after hours or on Saturday and set off the alarm, the police are automatically dispatched and we will be charged a police burglar alarm nuisance fee for the false alarm. Building and Grounds will ask that you pay the nuisance fee. For those of you who will need to enter the building regularly after hours or on weekends, a training session will be provided. Please contact someone on the committee for more information.

Happy New Year
Worship Committee
In the near future, you may notice a reminder in the Order of Service, beside Milestones, to keep them brief. The Worship Committee would like you to know how that decision came about. As we become more and more a spiritual community, the sharing of our milestones becomes increasingly important. We want and need to see each other's faces and hear each other's voices as we relate truly significant joys and sorrows. At the same time, because of that very community, we want to be considerate of each other by keeping our milestones short and to the point - in most cases, a couple of sentences will convey the message adequately. In this way, all can be included without making the service too long or crowding out part of the planned service. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

New UU Orientation
An orientation for new or prospective members at First Church will be held for three sessions on consecutive Wednesday nights starting January 14 from 7:00 - 9:00 in Memorial Hall.
The series provides an opportunity for new members to meet more established members in an intimate atmosphere and learn more about Unitarian Universalism. The three sessions will allow us to:
I hope the series will prove as helpful to you as it has to past participants. It is often in these more intimate settings that one can get a better feel or understanding of the group you've chosen to become a part of.
If you have further questions, feel free to contact Dan Wiest or phone the church office.
